We’ve Got This
We’ve Got This supporting young adults age 16-18yrs
What the support looks like
1-2-1 Peer Mentor support
Our peer mentors can offer you 1-2-1 support for a number of sessions. This is either done out in the community or online or both.
What our peer mentors are:
- talk openly about what they’re feeling and experiencing
- explore ideas and approaches others have found helpful
- feel reassured that they are not alone
- connect with others and strengthen their sense of belonging
- recognise their strengths
- build self-esteem and confidence
- feel more hopeful about the future
Connectors –
We will help you to explore activities, try out new opportunities and support you to attend until you feel happy to go alone.
Advocates –
We will represent you while supporting you to find your voice for yourself.
What our peer mentors are not:
Counselling –
We can help to signpost you to some fab counselling services, but we are not trained counsellors.
Therapists –
Our mentors are experts by experience, not trained therapists, if you think this is the level of intervention that you think you or the person you are nominating needs, then this isn’t the right support for you.
Unlimited support –
While our mentor’s are committed to supporting you, our goal is to support you to feel more empowered with your own mental health, and to equip you to be able to better deal with life’s every day challenges.
Children/Adult Social Care –
We work very closely with Children and Adult Social Care, but we are not an alternative to them, our support is quite different.
