Shows and Dino workshops
Local company Fuse Performance, and Somerset Outdoor Arts organised a free event, Picnic in the Park, with the Brick & Tile Museum, who hosted workshops, alongside Emerald Ant’s theatre show, ‘The Iguanodon Restaurant’ , set inside and around Iggy, a life-size Victorian iguanodon. The event offers free family fun, celebrating our natural history, and the famous fossils and clay of Somerset.
Dinosaur-creativity, fun with the Brick and Tile Museum
The show told the story of the birth of geology in a fast and furious romp through 60 years of scientific discovery. As the story unfolds. eccentric characters emerge from history: Mary Anning, Sir Richard Owen, Baron George Cuvier and the Godfather of Geology, Somerset’s own William ‘Strata’ Smith. They compete for fame, claiming the biggest, best fossils for themselves, and they grapple with questions that shook society: How come these creatures no longer exist? What does this tell us about our world, and where’s my hat?
Families and audiences brought picnics and enjoyed watching the free shows and taking part in the workshops.
With thanks to Arts Council England, Bridgwater Town Deal, Bridgwater Town Council and Fuse.
